After sunset Little Havana slows down rather than speeds up. Domino tables stay lit, café windows stay open, and conversation carries from one storefront to the next.

We spent three evenings on Calle Ocho with the people who keep the block awake — a guitarist who plays for the room rather than the street, a family restaurant that has not changed its menu in two decades, and the neighbours who treat the sidewalk as a living room.

What makes the neighbourhood work is not spectacle. It is repetition: the same tables, the same songs, the same welcome, night after night.
